Foreign born and first generation South Asian Americans (Desi) primarily from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh often feel more deeply connected to their home country than they do the U.S. whereas first gens often don’t feel fully connected to either identity, which can sometimes lead to the disconnect in civic duty and political engagement. You don’t have to be either/or. You don’t have to be one more than the other. You are Desi and American. And Americans vote. So vote karna yar! *

Uncle Sam meets Bollywood “So Vote Karna Yar” in Hindi is a playful way of saying “C’mon, vote!” Although there are a vast variety of languages spoken throughout, Hindi is a language many understand due to the popularity of Bollywood movies. The languages around the main figure all read ___ and American (Bengali and American...etc)
Jackson Heights, New York holds the biggest population of South Asian Americans. Posters would be strategically placed where our target is the most, including ethnic grocery stores, the subway, and communities with a high Desi concentration such as Decatur, GA.

GUERILLA
Bazaar style street fairs filled with Desi-American vendors and artists with the aim of registering people to vote, pinpointing polling locations and giving away free merch. Voting registration booths will be placed throughout the fair, where one can also receive free merch and coupons from vendors at the fair.
